I design and build information systems for business. This has included the fields of insurance, education and law, among others. I've been lucky enough to design and construct software ranging from full-fledged document management and work-flow systems to simple integration of accounting and databases. Some systems are in operation at only one location, others at several independent locations, and yet others on Internet servers. They are built in many languages, from C and SQL to XML and Python. The common denominators are that they are fast, dependable, easy to operate, made money for their owners -- and they were fun to build. Notes on my personal interests, such as Indian Cooking, where to buy a scythe, and the best broadcasts of baroque and classical music on the Internet are at notes.michael-dawson.com. |
